German, Germany & India connection
Major German companies have already established manufacturing plants in India. Currently, over 1,600 German companies are operating in India. Plus, Mittelstand (small and mid-size companies in German-speaking countries) predominantly operate through JVs within the country. There are well over 500 such ventures at the moment. German companies like Adidas, Allianz, BASF, Bayer, Bosch, Carl Zeiss, DHL, Deutsche Bank, DMG Mori Seiki AG, Henkel, Abicor Binzel, Lufthansa, SAP, Puma, Siemens, T-Mobile, BMW, Mercedes, or Volkswagen employ over 300,000 workers in India. More German businesses are looking forward to establish themselves in India as a part of their global expansion strategy.
India and Germany maintain a good relation when comes to economy and common interest. For India, Germany is most engaging technology partner. Germany is India’s largest trading partner and also the seventh-largest foreign direct investor in India. A we can see that around 74 Indian companies have generated 11 billion euros in annual revenues and employed nearly 23,300 people in Germany. As per the ministry of external affairs, Germany’s total FDI in India from April 2000 until September 2017 amounted to US$ 10.63 billion. All these show that German has become an essential part to have relation with a German company.
